Tap Find My > Find My iPhone and switch the slider to off.

Go to Settings and click on your ID information. You will need to turn off Find My on your device.(Note it took us ages to download iOS 16.6.1 from this site, we assume because lots of other people were also downloading it). The software should start downloading to your Downloads folder. It needs to still be signed by Apple, which these days is a very narrow window indeed. Go to and download the correct version of the iOS you want that matches your iPhone model.
